Opening Comments
Welcome to this blog!
It is set up to create a small little space for thinking about a better future for the people of South Africa, and for all those who encounter us here.
I am a person who believes that we function best when we set creative and imaginative goals. These, in turn, serve to guide us in what we choose to do with our time, our energies and our resources. I believe that proper focus will carry us further and open up many more possibilities.
Over the past 30 years I have been a committed supporter and activist in the African National Congress of South Africa, precisely because it set goals and targets and has now brought about a huge change and difference.
For the past ten years, I have been working in local government as an elected representative of the African National Congress. This has put me at the coal face of where changes are being made and serves as the basis for this blog. I aim to use this space to reflect on both our achievements, which I believe are very often understated, as well as where we need to direct further and different kinds of efforts for the future.
Your comments are welcome. If you agreed with me on everything, it would be quite unstimulating. But if you disagree, I expect respect, calm logic and a willingness to be persuasive. If we all grow positively, then we will have achieved something. Writing in any other spirit will be ignored.
